The Red Lion at Milton Bryan is a charming, idyllic, chocolate box of a country pub in the heart of Bedfordshire’s stunning countryside. In September 2016 The Red Lion was taken on by husband & wife, chef Daniel and landlady Narelle who have 40 years’ experience in the industry between them. This unique marriage delivers a focus and an emphasis to provide and combine luscious food and drink with a friendly service in relaxed surroundings. Award Winning Chef / Owner Daniel Turner and his team utilize only the very best of which is seasonal and fresh from their well trusted suppliers. And the ethic is simple, a diverse menu, hosting exquisite dishes executed with consistency every time. With this concept along with plenty of hard work a bit of blood, lots of sweat and a few tears, a long-lasting reputation, excellent google, Facebook and trip-adviser pages and heaps of rewards and satisfaction.
A Taste…… Your fancy might be as simple as Marrfishes first pick, freshest caught hake from their very own day boats on the south coast, coated and fried in the The Red Lions Sourdough Beer Batter served with hand cut chips, chunky Tartare and Garden peas. Or for the dedicated love of a well-cooked steak try from The Red Lions extensive grill menu, a cut of Aubrey Allen’s carefully selected grass feed & dry aged beef. Expect to find inspired dished such as, Pan Roasted Duck Breast, lovingly basted with butter, garlic & thyme. Heritage carrots, dauphinois potatoes & brandy-soaked cherries in a rich jus. Almost everything here is homemade, from Sourdough bread & flavoured butters to Strawberry & meringue tarts and sticky toffee puddings. A must try should be a dish from a small selection of cooked from scratch curries from around the world. Sundays are extremely popular. Roast dinners include Aubrey’s Rib of Beef, Westcountry Lamb, Vegetable Wellington & The Red Lions Signature Mini Hog Roast. It comes with no surprise but upmost certainty you’ll need to make a booking well ahead on Sundays!
Here at The Red Lion we have a fantastic selection of beers. Our wine suppliers, Hallgarten Druitt & Novum Wines supply us with many of the very best wines from around the world and if you are not sure about your wines we are always on hand to help! We use only premium spirits in all our Cocktails and even do non alcoholic cocktails too! We have a fantastic Gin menu with over 30 varieties to choose from, all served over ice with Fever-Tree Tonic and garnishes.
Our outdoor areas have now been transformed into something special. Our enclosed garden is perfect for anyone just wanting to enjoy a drink or two in the sunshine, families with young children are safe in the knowledge that their children can’t run off and we are very dog friendly. Our enclosed oak post and glass patio complete with festoon lighting and sails is designed to be an extension of our restaurant in the warmer months and provides a little bit of shelter.
